FQ Swim Show 2017

The 2017 FQ Swim Show was an absolute trip… to the sun-drenched shores of the Cote d’Azur, that is.

Okay, not literally. But you’d be forgiven for thinking the tastefully decked-out One Cascade venue in Freeman’s Bay was a scene fresh from the French Riviera, the theme of this year’s show.

Swimsuit-laden models, showcasing their perfectly St Tropez-bronzed limbs, sported vintage suitcases, chic retro shades and of-the-moment berets, their impeccably quaffed French-girl hair expertly teased into place by lead hairstylist Lauren Gunn and her team using products and tools from Evo and Cloud Nine.

M.A.C Cosmetics senior artist Kiekie Stanners led the charge on the makeup front, taking inspiration from Brigitte Bardot and other French cool-girls to create a quintessential 60s look consisting of smudged “slept-in” cat eye flicks, dramatic brows and an effortless natural lip.

Friends of FQ and VIP guests sipped on San Pellegrino and Mumm Rosé champagne as they were treated to the hottest swimsuit style showcase in town, styled to perfection by FQ fashion editor Danielle Clausen. Cool Mediterranean beats spun by DJ-of-the-night Steve Dunstan transported the crowd to the south of France, and beautifully-presented (and not to mention, delicious) oysters c/o Jess’s Underground Kitchen completed the picture-perfect vacation vibe, as the lazy evening sun went down.

The exclusive annual event marks not only the commencement of summer but also the launch of Fashion Quarterly Issue 4 – our summer edition that includes the ultimate 2017-2018 summer swimsuit edit, seasonal gift guides and beach beauty solutions.

There were a lot of Samsungs streaming the event straight to Instagram – but in case you missed any of the action, check out the video below…
